Barracuda Rick ...
Rick's lightning fast swimming scores on a
5 Foot BARRACUDA
Ole Outlaw points about 600 yards across the Gulf where he caught
up with this Barracuda. He admits the swim took it's toll as hauling back
the spear gun and a near 5 foot Barracuda weighing in around 35 pounds
and pulled him to safety. The two were hunting together when Rick broke
from the group in pursuit of the one fish he was wanting to land.
Needless to say, ... Leo was quite impressed.
Here is Leo, ... climbing back into the boat he even points with
amazement of how far Rick swam to "Run Down" that speedy fish.
The Capt. of the Boat, ... Juan turns the boat around and shows
exactly how far out Rick swam. He is pointing to the buoy out there.
Rick caught up with the Barracuda several hundred yards on the other
side. Open water spearfishing isn't for everyone, ... but you don't know
until you try. Rick is hooked and is planning another trip soon.
After securing Rick with the life raft, ... Leo and Ashley haul in Rick's trophy.
Leo even poses with this awesome trophy of Rick's. It's all smiles on the boat now. I think Rick put a little scare into the entire team with his water prowleness. With only a snorkel and spear gun, ... the Ocean is a dangerous place. Rick surprised Leo with his ability to cover so much territory. Rick stated that Leo actually said ... "You were born to be Spearfisherman".
a once in a lifetime trophy Barracuda in their hands. It's smiles for all and
the Outlaw Salute to boot ... with Leo blowing the smoke from the barrel !
Leo wanted everyone to know ...
You come fishing with him and safety is always first. Everyone uses
45 sunscreen blocker or higher for a day in the sun on his boat !
Leo taking a break enjoys a Pepsi and reads Rick's card.
His ... "Bad Ass" trapping card !
On shore ... the debate was to "mount" the fish or "Eat" the fish. Rick
really wanted to bring it back for me to mount, ... but they had several
more days in Mexico so, ... "eat it " won out. Here, ... they start cutting it up.
Leo wraps the fish well and even lays in on some paper for the ride.
Tucked away ... Rick now only has to ride the ferry back to the hotel. That really does need to get on some ice soon. Rick should have brought a cooler !
Ahhh ... glad to see bribery is live and well in Mexico ... Rick with a little flirting
and smooth talking along with some CASH ... convinces this little darling to
store the barracuda in the cooler on the ferry. Oh Rick you sly dog !
If that's not bad enough, Rick convinces Chef Hemi Migul Valdez of the Los Cozumel Restaurant to fix this tasty barracuda for the group. I think it took a little more cash for this one, as Hemi wasn't too impressed by Rick's smile and flirting.
Now, ... the spearfishing trip was just one day on
this Cozumel Mexican Vacation. Enjoy the photos
Rick took of the sites of this tropical place.
Rick met Martha Lopez and her son Heriberto ( Herb for short ) on the street
of San Pablo. Rick knows just enough Spanish to get in trouble.
Little Herb is a kinda leery of Rick and his camera.
Martha should not have left Lil Herb alone on the street.
Heriberto says ... Hello to TheLodgeman.com with a Double Barrel Salute.
You rock little Herb.
Here ... Mr. Barracuda shows off his "Fast Moves" on Land.
Remember, ... if you want a get-away with something for everyone, contact Leo at www.spearfishingtoday.com and start right there !
