Coyote Calling ...

at it's best ( or worst )

Here in the Midwest ... temperatures dropped into the single digits. And, we had a good amount of snow to boot. Well, ... though it's bad weather ... it's a great time to call those hungry dogs. As winter continues, coyote calling gets more productive. The best time to try to call one into shooting range is during a long spell of cold, cold, snowy weather. If they have been a few days since a meal, getting one to race in can happen. And ... happen quickly. I often use my single shot 10 gauge for that reason. If they bust in to 50 yards ... that gun with heavy loads will bring'm down fast.

This young dog was certainly hungry ... as he got a little too close.
I use mouth calls and dress for the surroundings. Thanks to Lonnie Foust
of www.lonniefoust.com even my hat blended in to the white terrain.

I guess I have Chevy to thank ?
And seriously, ... a ole white sheet cut up to break my dark outline is all
that is needed to confuse a coyote racing in to the sound of a easy meal.
You might not be able to tell, but I'm cold.

It's around 10 degrees, I have on two pair of long johns, two pair of gloves and several layers up top, ... but it's cold. If you have any coyote photos to share ... please send them in. We'd be glad to post. I love coyote photos.
