Shantane's 2009 Elk Hunt
Shantane Strohschein hunting with her best friend, hunting
partner, and husband had one incredible hunt. Thanks to
both of you for documenting the experience.
Once you find the herd ... picking out a bull is tough.
Shantane tells me this herd was nearly 200 animals mostly
cows. But, after glassing the elk a nice bull was found.
Shooting across the canyon, Shantane connects and her bull is down.
The herd ... after the shot group up for this impressive
photo of just how many elk raced away over the ridge.
Now ... That is impressive. ( and so too is the Elk )
The work is about to begin. Once the shot goes off, ... the fun is done.
Somehow though, ... I think the Strohschein's were still enjoying the trip as they reached the highway heading home. It is hard work but ... very rewarding. They hunt as "do it yourself hunters" ... on public land. It just doesn't get any better than that ! Thanks Shantane for sharing your hunt. It really was incredible, and the photos made it feel like I was there. Seriously, you are my idol.
