Meet Brandon Bell ...
(and father Eric)
This father and son team hunted with BC Outlaw last week in some of
the hottest temperatures of the summer. With the mercury reaching 96 ...
and the heat index over 100 ... young Brandon with the help of his Dad harvested two hogs on a recent hunt. Check out the photos from his hunt.
The humidity was in the air ... as Brandon and Eric hunted from
a ground blind in the early morning. With temps already in the 80's ...
I wondered how they might do ?
Even the cattle feed early and head for the cool of the shade during the day.
The night before, ... Brandon enjoyed a surprise. As we approached
the blind, a nice hog was moving right after the thunder storm that
passed through. He and his Dad quickly got into position as a beauty
of a hog fed on some corn that was down on the road way.
Brandon, shooting a Youth Model New England Arms .243 single shot dropped this nearly 150 pound hog with one shot at the base of the ear.
( His dad said that they have been practicing )
As the morning progressed, ... Brandon and Eric watched two hogs
appear from the creek, ... only to disappear into the weeds and creek
before a shot could be fired. Another hog moved across the other
hillside but didn't give young Brandon a shot either. With the morning
sun gaining heat ... Eric said that he and Brandon eased out of the blind
to search the roadway where Brandon harvested his hog the night before. And ... there one was moving in towards them. This shot was a little longer
and Brandon elected to shoot through the ribs ... and another one shot kill.
Eric works on the hog while ... Brandon watches and learns how to do it.
Eric, ... told me that he hoped they could shoot a young hog to roast
whole. Well, thanks to Brandon's fine shooting, ... he got one. I think Brandon is ready for a nap after two successful hunting trips.
Here's Da - Man, ... young Brandon signing the hunter banner for me. Thanks to both Brandon and Eric Bell for coming down. We really like
it when fathers bring their kids. Seeing Brandon enjoying the outdoors
and being taught by his dad is what it's all about.
Thanks again and come back soon.
