Everyone probably already knows this man. Or, ... at least heard the tales about him, his father and the records they hold in Louisiana.
You see ... Sammy Benoit is "SAMMYTHEGATORMAN" ...
The World reknowned gator fighting Cajun of Welsh, La.
This looks like the town I grew up in, ... well, minus the hanging crawl-dad. It's here that "SammyTheGatorMan" made his fame. He's known all across the State of Louisiana for always catching the biggest alligator.
Sammy's DA MAN !
First though, ... lets start the story where Outlaw and his brother Granny stayed for the gator fun. This cabin looks cozy and the perfect place for a Cajun experience.
Out the back door ... the swamp awaits.
Sammy Benoit or, ... SammyTheGatorMan ... doesn't use a boat. Nope, ... they walk the swamp in search for gators. The slide show below has some great photos of the swamp and gator fun !
The vegetation is lush and a gator can be lurking very near.
Granny, while smoking his cigar, pulls a gator from the water. Placing the gator in his lap with a cigar kinda rings a bell ? What's that remind me of ?
Outlaw poses with a nice 8 foot gator that apparently tried to swallow granny's 9mm. Doesn't he look all dressed up for gator hunting?
The first day yielded a good truck load of belts, boots, and billfolds.
At the locker, ... they lay them on the concrete to measure ...
Gators are priced by length.
Sammy talks Granny into playing gator ball ... Yeah, they each try to throw a gator through the hoop. If you can do it, ... the locker gives you a gator belt ! WOW ... I can't wait to see Granny's new belt.
While "SammyTheGatorMan" and Granny were tossing gators at the hoop, playing a little rim ball, ... Outlaw goes on in and starts making friends. Here he is with Alberto Benoit, Sammy's cousin.
While Hemi Benoit shows off the Outlaw salute too. Hemi, though has the same last name as Sammy, ... but they aren't cousins ? Hmmmm ?
That's a pile of gators. WOW
